Holyhead

Holyhead is a port town on Holy Island, which is connected to Anglesey by road and rail causeways. The area is dominated by its large ferry terminal, providing the main sea link to Ireland. The town itself has a functional, maritime character, with its economy and daily rhythm closely tied to the port operations. The natural harbour is one of the busiest in the UK for passenger traffic, with the constant movement of vessels and vehicles.

Inland, the landscape rises to Holyhead Mountain, the highest point on Anglesey, offering expansive views over the sea. The area's ancient history is visible at the Roman fort of Caer Gybi within the town and the prehistoric hut circles on the mountain's slopes. The long South Stack peninsula features a lighthouse on a small, rugged island accessible by a steep footbridge. Coastal paths provide walking routes along dramatic cliffs.
