Hoober

Hoober ward encompasses a primarily rural area on the western edge of the Rotherham borough. The landscape is characterised by farmland, woodland, and the steep valleys of the Pennine foothills. Settlements are small and scattered, including the village of Wentworth and parts of Thorpe Hesley. The ward's eastern boundary is marked by the M1 motorway, creating a distinct separation from the more urban areas to the east.

The area is historically connected to the Wentworth Woodhouse estate, with its parkland and monuments shaping much of the local scenery. Hoober Stand, an 18th-century triangular obelisk built as a lookout tower, sits prominently on a wooded hill. Land use remains largely agricultural, with pockets of residential development focused around the older village cores, maintaining a quiet, semi-rural character.
