Kiveton, Todwick & Harthill

Kiveton, Todwick and Harthill form a cluster of settlements in the eastern part of the Rotherham borough, situated near the South Yorkshire border with Nottinghamshire. The area is characterised by a mix of residential housing and open countryside, with the M1 motorway running to the west providing a significant transport link. Historically, the local economy was dominated by coal mining, with Kiveton Park Colliery being a major employer until its closure in the 1990s, a transition that continues to shape the communities.

The landscape includes farmland and pockets of woodland, with the Chesterfield Canal passing through Kiveton. The area retains a distinct village character in its separate centres, each with its own local facilities and community focus.
