About

Llandaf (often spelled Llandaff) sits on the north‑west edge of Cardiff beside the River Taff. The area centres on Llandaf Cathedral and the ruined Bishop’s Palace, both close to a short high street of shops, cafes and pubs. The cathedral stands on a slight rise above the river and its stonework and carved details are visible from the playing fields below. Paths from the cathedral grounds join the Taff riverside route used by walkers and cyclists and provide direct links into neighbouring streets.

Danescourt lies immediately west of Llandaf and was built mainly as a suburban estate in the second half of the 20th century. A small local railway station gives regular trains into Cardiff Central, so many journeys to the city are by rail. Housing is arranged around small green spaces, and community facilities include a cluster of shops, a pub and sports pitches. Footpaths and residential streets connect Danescourt with Llandaf’s high street and cathedral within a short walk, so the two neighbourhoods function as a single local community while retaining separate centres.
