About

Llandudno town occupies a crescent of sand and promenade between the Great and Little Orme, with a grid of streets laid out during the Victorian era. The pier stretches about 213 metres into the bay and the esplanade links shops, cafes and traditional arcades along the North Shore. Transport up onto the Great Orme includes the vintage tramway and a cable car, both giving direct access from town to the headland and summit paths. The town retains a clear seaside plan and a mix of visitor facilities and local services clustered around the square and pier approach.

Gogarth describes the western tip of the Great Orme where limestone cliffs fall to the Irish Sea and exposed rock shelves meet steep coastal turf. The cliff band and offshore rocks attract seabirds and are known locally to anglers and climbers for particular ledges and routes. Above the cliffs, the Great Orme Copper Mine cuts tunnels into the hillside; the mine workings and their ancient entrance levels run into the slopes that overlook Gogarth, linking the coastal headland with the area’s long human and industrial history.
