About

Llangollen sits on the River Dee where a medieval stone bridge links the town to lanes and riverside paths. Above the town the ruin of Castell Dinas Brân stands on a limestone outcrop, and the Horse Shoe Falls weir diverts water into the Llangollen Canal feeder that runs along the valley. The town hosts the annual International Musical Eisteddfod and has a preserved steam railway that runs east toward Corwen, both drawing visitors to local streets, cafes and boat moorings.

Llandrillo lies a few miles south of Llangollen at the edge of the Berwyn foothills, with lanes that lead into upland pasture and marked footpaths up onto the moor. The village has a parish church and a small cluster of shops and services used by surrounding farms. Walkers and riders use the bridleways to reach ridge routes and reservoir tracks, while seasonal field patterns and local lane junctions mark the transition from valley to open hill country.
