About

Melindwr ward lies in the Ceredigion countryside, north of Aberystwyth. The area is defined by the steep, wooded valleys of the rivers Melindwr and Rheidol. Settlement is dispersed, consisting of small villages and farms scattered across the upland landscape. The terrain shapes the community, with narrow roads following the contours of the hills.

The ward includes the villages of Capel Bangor, Ponterwyd, and the National Library of Wales' storage facility at Cwm Cynon. The surrounding land is used for forestry and upland grazing. The historic route of the Aberystwyth to Devil's Bridge railway, now a trail, passes through the area, following the river gorge.
