Morfa Tywyn occupies a low-lying coastal strip along the northern edge of Cardigan Bay. The ward is largely defined by its flat, reclaimed land, which is primarily used for agriculture. The area is bordered by the Afon Dysynni to the south and the main A493 road runs through it, connecting to Tywyn proper. Its landscape is open, with fields stretching towards the sea and the broad estuary.

The ward is home to the Morfa Gwyllt area and includes the southern section of Tywyn's long sandy beach. This coastline forms part of the Penllyn a'r Sarnau Special Area of Conservation. A notable local feature is the raised bog and wetland habitats found inland, which provide a contrast to the agricultural land and shore. The settlement pattern is dispersed, with a mix of residential properties and farmsteads.
