Newtown South

Newtown South is an electoral ward within the town of Newtown in Powys, lying on the southern side of the town centre beside the River Severn. The area is mainly residential with a mix of housing, local shops and primary school provision, and community facilities that serve nearby streets. Built form reflects growth from the 19th century, when textile mills lined the river; a number of former mill buildings remain and have been repurposed for housing and light industry. Public green spaces and short walking routes along the river offer local access to the water’s edge.
