About

Pembrey and Burry Port sit along the Carmarthen Bay coast of Carmarthenshire. Pembrey Country Park fronts a long sandy beach and dunes, with Pembrey Mountain rising inland. The country park contains woodland, car parks and a caravan site, and the former RAF Pembrey airfield lies nearby. Motorsport takes place at Pembrey Circuit, which hosts car and motorcycle meetings and a karting track within the park grounds, drawing competitors and spectators through the year.

Burry Port grew around a 19th-century harbour built for coal shipping; the harbour now includes a marina and a breakwater marked by a small red lighthouse at the entrance. The Millennium Coastal Path runs along the inlet, largely on reclaimed railway alignment, providing a continuous route for walkers and cyclists between stretches of shoreline and the town. Local businesses include boatyards, fishmongers and shops clustered near the harbour and quay. Tidal flats of the Burry Inlet are visible from the shoreline and support seasonal birdlife, while village streets link residential areas with schools and community facilities.
