Pen-y-ffordd

Pen-y-ffordd is a ward located in the north-eastern part of Flintshire, forming a significant residential area on the outskirts of the county town of Mold. The settlement itself is situated on rising ground above the Alyn Valley, with its landscape characterised by a mix of housing developments and pockets of green space. It serves primarily as a commuter area, with good road links to the A55 North Wales Expressway facilitating travel towards Chester and the wider North West region.

The area is historically connected to the local mining industry, though its modern identity is largely residential. A notable local feature is the presence of the Loggerheads Country Park on its southern boundary, which offers access to woodland walks and the limestone gorge of the River Alyn. The ward includes the smaller community of Gwernymynydd, and its elevated position provides views across the surrounding Flintshire countryside towards the Clwydian Range.
