About

Pwllheli is the market town and principal port of the Llŷn Peninsula, sitting on the shore of Pwllheli Bay. The town grew around its harbour and later the marina, which is used for local fishing and leisure sailing; Pwllheli is also the western terminus of the Cambrian Coast railway, linking the peninsula by rail. The town centre has shops, services and community facilities used by residents across the peninsula, and the seafront provides direct access to the bay and the Wales Coast Path.

A few miles along the north coast, Morfa Nefyn is a coastal settlement known for its long sandy shore and backing dunes—the place name literally means sea-marsh. The beach is used for walking, wind- and kite-based watersports when conditions allow, and the coastal footpaths lead along the headland toward neighbouring communities. Welsh is commonly heard in daily life, and local activities include small-scale fishing and golf on the headland that frames the bay, making the stretch between Pwllheli and Morfa Nefyn a working coastal landscape as well as a place for recreation.
