Tirymynach

Tirymynach ward lies in the northern part of Ceredigion, encompassing a primarily rural landscape of rolling hills, farmland, and the Afon Mynach river valley. The area includes the village of Tal-y-bont and is bordered by the larger town of Aberystwyth to the south. Its economy has traditionally been connected to agriculture and forestry, with settlement patterns reflecting this dispersed, low-density character.

The ward's geography is defined by its position within the foothills of the Cambrian Mountains. A notable feature is the preserved route of the former Aberystwyth to Carmarthen railway, with sections now forming part of the Ystwyth Trail for walking and cycling. This path follows the river through wooded valleys, offering a direct link through the ward's historical industrial past centred on lead mining and timber.
