About

Brent sits in north‑west London and takes its name from the River Brent, which crosses the borough and feeds the reservoir known locally as the Welsh Harp. The modern borough was formed in 1965 by the merger of the Municipal Boroughs of Wembley and Willesden. It contains Wembley, Kilburn, Willesden, Harlesden and Neasden, and is home to Wembley Stadium and the adjacent stadium station. Neasden houses the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, built from carved stone and marble and visible from local routes, while Gladstone Park and the Brent Reservoir offer waterside paths and open ground within the urban area.

Brent is served by a mix of Underground, Overground and rail stations and has seen large change around Wembley town centre since the stadium redevelopment. High streets such as Kilburn High Road and Harlesden retain markets, independent shops and music outlets; Harlesden has a long association with reggae and Caribbean recording studios. Local institutions include the Kiln Theatre and a range of community organisations operating across neighbourhoods, reflecting long‑standing patterns of migration and trade that shape daily life in the borough.
