Canton (Welsh: Treganna) is an inner-city district immediately west of Cardiff city centre. Cowbridge Road East runs through the heart of the area and acts as the main shopping street, with shops, cafés, takeaways and pubs lining the pavement. Terraced houses from the late 19th and early 20th centuries make up much of the residential fabric, interspersed with short-run flats and small gardens. Regular bus routes use the main road and link Canton to the city centre and other districts.

Chapter Arts Centre on Market Road provides cinemas, galleries and performance spaces used by local companies and community groups. Canton Library and community halls host classes and meetings while sports clubs meet on small green spaces tucked between streets.
