Landore sits along the River Tawe, north of Swansea city centre. The area is characterised by industrial infrastructure, including the Morfa waste management facility and the large Amazon distribution centre. Residential streets are found on the hillsides, with views across the valley.

The Lower Swansea Valley regeneration project has reshaped much of the riverside land. A specific local landmark is the white spire of St. John's Church, which stands adjacent to the busy A4067 road. The Liberty Stadium, home to Swansea City AFC, is located directly across the river in the adjacent area of Plasmarl.
