Ruabon & Marchwiel

Ruabon and Marchwiel sit within Wrexham County Borough in northeast Wales. Ruabon grew up around coal, clay and estate land; local clay fed brickworks that produced the red Ruabon brick and terracotta used across Britain. The village contains St Mary’s Church and the Wynnstay estate, and Ruabon railway station on the Shrewsbury–Chester line still carries passengers and freight traffic shaped by the area’s industrial past. South of the village the moorland of Ruabon Mountain meets fields and old quarry workings, while rows of 19th‑century terraces reflect the workforce that once served local pits and factories.

Marchwiel lies a short distance away as a separate parish set among hedged fields and lanes.
