Wood Green has a large shopping centre and market streets around the Haringey Heartlands, while Tottenham is known for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the site of the former White Hart Lane.
Parks and public spaces shape much of the borough: Alexandra Park and Alexandra Palace look north over the city and are marked by the red television mast where the BBC began regular TV broadcasts in 1936. Finsbury Park sits on the southern edge, and Bruce Castle Museum in Tottenham records local history from a 16th-century manor house. River corridors and the Tottenham Marshes run along the Lea Valley, supporting community projects and sports facilities.
